The Northern Territory: This is the crossing at Tobermory Station, a cattle farm that is a million square kilometers in size. Not "like a million"... an actual million. They use helicopters to muster their cattle. Imagine trying to round up all the poodles in France with a baguette. That's what I imagine this task to be like. (*Not seen in this photo - the "Welcome to the Northern Terrritory" sign. Yes.. three r's) Also featured in this photo, another "grid"... the bumpy metal grate that cattle can't cross, but vehicles can.. barely.

They have those cattle guards in Alberta too. A movie recommendation: "Rabbit Proof Fence". / 06.14.04Saw the movie on the bus... very odd to see that landscape on the TV screen as well as out the bus window... Lana / 06.14.04Post a comment
