Meech Lake... accordingly: Oh, the places you can go in and around Ottawa when you have a car.. or when someone offers to drive you. Last night - swimming at Meech Lake (yes, that Meech Lake) and a stop at the Chelsea Pub. If the Chelsea Pub was in some sort of burger-off with The Works, the pub would win hands down. You can't go wrong with a huge patio in August.
Also: Love love love this article on yoga fashion from today's Toronto Star. Comments
Nothin' to swim in here in North York...except maybe a friend's parents' pool! Sarah / 08.05.04nice shot ... ahhh beaches : ) 'course its cloudy and rainy and not beachy at all here in Edmonton : / daisies / 08.05.04Great shot. Isn't it lovely up there? I love the article, too. Thanks for the heads up. 5th Muse / 08.05.04I'm a bit disturbed by the backlash against Lululemon in that article. Including them with coporations like Nike is misleading, and the supposed "good yoga stores" sound exactly like Lululemon a few years ago when they were smaller. Lululemon does support charities here in Vancouver and, if you can afford their clothes, they provide a responsible shopping alternative to the big brands. Their clothes cost a lot because they're made here - and labour isn't cheap in Vancouver. The author's suggestion that 'Jut' is the better store to shop at because it's local, seems to just be a case of supporting toronto rather than Vacouver-based buisness (I'm cool with that - just not with the portrayal of Lululemon as any different than Jut). That being said, I do like her idea of not participating in the yoga fashion show and wearing what every clothes you want. trish / 08.05.04(end rant from out west - maybe I am a westerner by now). trish / 08.05.04If you can't beat them, join them. I picked up 2 pairs of pants tonight because they were of the 'oh so comfy' calibre.. and the gift certificates just made it so much easier. I think the problem with Ottawa is that Lulu is the only "yoga" store and there are relatively few studios. It's not the price point that's my main concern (I'll definitely support clothes that are made here), it's just I don't want to end up wearing the same outfit as my sticky mat neighbour. Now.. if they could only manage to distribute enough of the basic colours and fewer tangerine... Lana / 08.05.04" I don't want to end up wearing the same outfit as my sticky mat neighbour." yeah, that's a big problem here. We all look like identical twins... (be glad you don't have a TNA store yet - it's full of tarts, girls that want to be tarts, and guys that want to date girls that look like tarts. And most of the clothing doesn't look exercise friendly). trish / 08.06.04Post a comment
