Technically, in Gatineau, Quebec: I walk by this statue everyday on the way home from work. Everyday it looks like a ham resting upon a bare bottom. Being English, we don't always understand the subtleties of French culture.
Update: My coworker provided me the info on this work. It is called "Love l'Amour" by Henry Watson Jones. In her notes it reads, "Some controversy when first erected. Some saw it as vulgar and obscene. However, none would specify what they actually meant and the criticism faded." Now, if you'll excuse me, there's a "wry post-colonial comedy" waiting for me at the library. Yes, it IS Russell Smith's new book, Muriella Pent. January 12, 2005 ||
