Banff - greenery: Deer tomorrow... I promise.
I can now understand why *SO MANY* tourists are attracted to Banff. From the townsite you get a 360 degree view of snowy mountains - sprinkle in some frolicking with wildlife and the friendliest service I've ever had (mostly from Australians) and you have one prime place to visit. Upon arrival I loved the feeling of being surrounded by the rockies, but I heard other people say they missed seeing the horizon and joking that they "couldn't see anything because the mountains were in the way." Late April - early May is a great time to visit. You get the tail end of the ski season (though, I didn't ski) and you miss the peak summer tourist season. Though, it is also the time of year when bears wake up from hibernation and start trolling for some chow. I saw none. (phew) May 05, 2005 ||
