Some greenery from Banff: Question: Why are all the good art stores in BC?
I've ordered all my photo supplies from the west coast: card stock, stationary, envelops, photo mats, you name it. Because you don't even want to get me started on my trek to find decent paper in this city that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I got so frustrated with one store's customer service that I left the items I had intended to buy on the counter. Good bye art store! Comments
What art store was it, Lana? I'm experiencing the same exasperations at the moment.
-first time poster Kimu / 05.20.05Wallack's drives me batty. Every time I go in it's one hassle after another. Even when all I want to do is buy chalk. You'd think they don't actually *want* you to spend your money there. I'm down with the Loomis & Toles near my place. They've always made me a happy customer. robyn / 05.20.05i'm never very good at compare-price shopping. i just see what i need and buy. worry about the bills later. hmm. i should probably look into the BC market then. Melanie / 05.20.05Funny. I am just the opposite! PS: I couldn't find the funky tags... Lana / 05.20.05I second Loomis & Toles as they are my source for supplies. My vote is for L&T also. Even when I had a discount at Wallacks (OSA student), I went to L&T for all my painting supplies. (Though, in their defense, Wallacks has a better supply of rubber stamp making materials.) Parasol / 05.20.05The tags *should be* on the inside front left in the scrapbook embellishment section (one of the diagonal aisles). On one of the spinny racks at the bottom. Wallacks definitely has more stamps, and they're also the only place I can find screenprinting ink. I try and abstain from going there as much as possible, though. robyn / 05.20.05greenery/bluery! this is a gorgeous photo, lana..are they berries? tiny buds? lovely colour, whatever they are!:-) lynn / 05.20.05I think all the good art stores (or paper for that matter) are in BC because... that's were all the trees are. Er.. actually that's where all the trees were before they cut them down, boiled them to a pulp and made paper out of them. :) Craig / 05.20.05I go to wallacks for the pre-cut mat selection... L+T had a total of 3.. and they had MAUVE flecks. I will not do mauve. Not ever. Neither have keychain sharpies though! Lana / 05.20.05Oh the keychain sharpie...I purchased one at Kate's Papery (heavenly) in NYC and promptly lost the the pen portion of the keychain. Tragic. Sarah / 05.20.05Lynn, I'm not sure what these are.. they were growing at ground level on what appeared to be "fir" trees. I'm afraid I don't know my conifers from my deciduous. Lana / 05.20.05Sarah, I heard from Robyn that the Staples on Merivale has them. Field trip? Lana / 05.20.05They look like Juniper berries on a Juniper bush. I could be wrong. But if I'm right, you can make yummy tea out of them. Edith / 05.20.05And if they are juniper you can also make Gin from them. A terrible drink in my book. Sickening! Of course I'm rather down on all alcohol in general. Rarely now indulge. But the picture is yummy! Hugh Petrie / 05.20.05Post a comment
