Using your bike for good, not evil: Tonight as I was cycling home on the Gatineau side of the river, I refused to pull aside to let a STO bus pass since there was oncoming traffic and not enough room to safely pass. He honked. I glared.
Then he SPED UP so that his 2 tonne bus was about a foot away from me. I yelled. I tried to cycled faster but there was no need to since there were two cars ahead of me slowing at a stop sign. I filed a complaint. 2 tonne bus versus 10 pound bike frame? That's not fair. Comments
It's good you reported him! Ride safely. guy / 07.11.05thanks "wood chip" : ) Lana / 07.11.05In 18 years of biking in Ottawa winter and summer I was seldom intimidated by a bus. I feel for you. Some drivers just don't get it. I also think it was wise to report. So what is the bike supported fellow watching? Jazz? messenger / 07.11.05I lost a loonie in a vending machine tonight. Boo Mondays. : ( Lana / 07.11.05Good for you Lana in reporting the idiot driver. Some bus drivers are so inconsiderate and rude, I know! Kel / 07.12.05I had major sympathy for the driver of my 95 last night - who seemed to have the only (barely) functioning 95 during the 6pm rush hour. Filled to capacity, overheating alarm going off, no air, complaining riders due to the slowness. Painful. Lana / 07.12.05I generally find the STO drivers much more aggressive (and therefore unsafe) than their OC Transpo counterparts. The former are happy to pass me with a hair's width of breathing room, while the latter usually wait until there is plenty of space. Anatole / 07.12.05You many have been riding on Taché Street. That street is so dangerous. It is almost impossible to pull aside because of the many potholes on that street. Martin / 07.13.05Post a comment
