Timed 5km

Just to see where I'm starting from, I timed a 5km loop from the Laurier Bridge to the Ritz Canal.

Total time doing 10 and 1s: 29:33

I refuse to call that my PB ('personal best' - that's the term the Running Room kids use). I'm sorry, but that acronym has already been taken by peanut butter.

Case of the Mondays

A bit of stiffness in my quadriceps from yesterday... but surprisingly little in calfs and ankles. I guess all the biking has helped and I am fitter than I thought. Yay.

I had complete smug runner karma bite me in the butt today when cycling to work. I toppled over my bike when stopped at a crosswalk waiting for the light to change. That's right. I fell off my bike while stopped. There shall be no more post-run prancing.

Power bar holster cowboys

It was a beautiful fall day for running, but the Slater St. run club is out of my league. The majority of runners were there for the half and full marathon runs and had these water and power bar holsters. No dueling. Then, they introduced new runners into the 'fold' and clapped as their names were called out. I hid behind the watch display.

We managed to do sets of 10 and ones (mostly) looping from Slater St. to the bridge at Lansdowne and back up the opposite side of the canal (crossing at Pretoria) to Confederation Park. I need to learn how to manage laps on my Ironman watch.

Total distance: 7.4 km

They're already plotting

Today's early morning Sunday run coincides with the day for turning our clocks ahead an hour. Coincidence? I think not.

Group fun?

I'll be hooking up with a pace group with the Running Room tomorrow morning for my first "fun" group run. I'll stand out in the crowd - I'll be the one without the Running Room style coat, water bottle and t-shirt.
