Today was set aside for two things: shopping and surfing (I feel like a Bondini? Bondonian? already). I took the bus to Bondi Junction to the new shopping centre, but there was nothing special about the shops there... way too expensive and trendy. So, I hopped back on the train and went a bit further west to Newtown.

Ottawans, picture Westboro before it went totally 'yuppie' and multiply that by about 4. King Street is full of cool (and cheap!) clothes shops, cafes and well, pretty much everything else. The outsides of the buildings all still look pretty worn, even if some restaurants have totally modded them to bits inside. There's also a pretty ecletic mix of people - the Doc Marten crowd, young professionals, old men, students etc. If Newtown had a beach, it would be perfect.

So, after some successful shopping in Newtown I headed back to Bondi for my last surf lesson. The surf was pretty sucky so we ended up doing more paddling than surfing. I had a couple of rides and that was pretty much it. I was presented with a little certificate for completing 3 lessons - see - officially a surfer girl. Rock on.

Now with some new duds in tow, I am going to get de-beached and go out for a fancy last meal on the Bondi town. Maybe more roo if I can find it.

Are there any aussies out there who want to adopt me, I'd prefer to stay than face the trip home tomorrow. 14 hours to LA, a 12 hour layover, 4 hours to Chicago, 3 hours layover and finally 2 hours to Ottawa. Oh MAN.
